A Þéhàdnoł is a gentle creature that spends its entire life roaming and watching over its chosen forest. They are primarily feline in form, with their head and overall size resembling that of a large coyote, and are exceptionally agile, able to pad along the ground without making the tiniest sound. They have a vegan diet of berries, nuts, and various types of leaves; however, their teeth resemble those of an omnivore, with sharp canines in the front like a dog, which generally serve the purpose of self-defense. Their paws have retractable claws, and their wings can be extended to allow for gliding short distances, though they are not possess the ability of true flight.
Þéhàdnoł have the ability to communicate with all living creatures, including plants and insects, but are incapable of speaking aloud or using words at all. Rather, they express and receive thoughts directly through a temporary telepathic link. To creatures capable of language, the Þéhàdnoł's thoughts are translated into words that the recipient hears in its head. To creatures without a language, the thoughts are received simply as abstract ideas or emotions to as far a degree as the creature capable of understanding. While a Þéhàdnoł can transmit their thoughts at will to whomever or whatever they wish to talk to, they are not mind-readers and cannot also hear the thoughts of others without the other willing them to. Similarly, either side can cut off their end of the link and hide their thoughts at any time.
They are able to heal themselves and others from wounds and disease. They can also use this ability for certain other purposes, such as aiding a plant or animal's growth, easing pain, and calming others in distress. While this is an inherent trait for all Þéhàdnoł, it is difficult to control and must be refined and strengthened through practice: thus, the extent of the power depends on the skill and experience of the individual. An average newborn Þéhàdnoł can do little more than heal itself of minor scrapes and bruises. The most masterful individuals, on the other hand, are said to be capable of reversing even death itself.
This power is also how Þéhàdnoł are born. Þéhàdnoł are neither male nor female and do not have sexual organs; instead, each one can concentrate their energy to create and give birth to a child. This process can be done voluntarily at anytime once the individual's power is strong enough. However, once it is done, the individual will be unable to give birth ever again.
Þéhàdnoł are mortal, but once full-grown at three months, they do not grow or age and can theoretically live forever if left undisturbed, as they can only die if fatally wounded and unable to heal the wound in time. Although Þéhàdnoł are not immune to disease, due to their incredible capacity to heal themselves, there has so far been no known case of one dying from disease.
Each Þéhàdnoł is the only one of its kind in its forest. When a new Þéhàdnoł is born, it stays with its parent until it is full-grown, then it takes a seed from its home tree and leaves to find a forest of its own. Once there, it plants the seed it brought with it to grow its own tree, which it will make its home -- once the Þéhàdnoł has begun to learn to control its abilities, it will use them to speed the tree's growth.
